Prototyes of excavators are evaluated through performance and safety tests before mass productions. One of these tests is Dynamic Stability Test. Key design parameters affecting the dynamic stability of excavators are mass distribution and hydraulic power. These design parameters are fixed in the very early stage of design. Late change may cause a lot of troubles. The best way to avoid these troubles is fixing the design parameters as early as possible through simulations.

The dynamic simulator of Excavators has three key components.
(1) Parametric model of excavators
(2) Dynamic solver (DADS)
(3) Simulation infomation management system (MS Access)
